                     The Lost Identity
It was Friday afternoon and Jessie had just finished school and it was now the first day of the holidays. She quickly packed her bag, and hurried out the classroom. She couldn't wait to start the holidays. That evening she was going to a christmas party at her Youth Group and she couldn't wait to get home and pick the outift out that she could wear to the party.
But on the walk home, while walking through the park, she suddenly saw a bright flash of light and then she started to feel dizzy. After her dizzy spell had past she looked around her confused. But nothing seemed to have changed.
She shrugged her shoulders and continued to walk home.
AT HOME.....
Jessie arrived at home just as her mum was comming home. She ran up to her mum to give her a hug but her mum stepped back and looked at her with a confused expression on her face.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" Jessie's mum asked.
"Mum... it's me Jessie." Jessie replied, rolling her eyes.
"I don't know who you are. Can you please leave?" Jessie's mum said, looking nervous.
"Mum, this is not funny. Come on, let's go inside." Jessie said, heading over to the front door.
"You can't come in... I don't know who you are and I don't want to bring strangers into the house with my young children about." Jessie's mum said.
"Oh, you mean Ben and Lisa? I wouldn't hurt them." Jessie said.
"How do you know my little children's names? I've never met you. Now, can you please leave." Jessie's mum said, looking worried.
"Mum, how can i leave when this is my house and you are my mum." Jessie said.
What was happening? How come her mum didn't recognise her?
"Do you want to call your parents?" Jessie's mum asked, taking out her mobile phone from her bag.
"If I was going to call anyone I would call you because you are my mum." Jessie said, getting annoyed now.
She had thought it was a joke but it wasn't funny anymore.
"Mum, it's not funny. I need to get ready to go to the party that i'm going to tonight." Jessie said.
"What is your name, child?" Jessie's mum asked.
"Jessica, but everyone calls me Jessie, including YOU mum." Jessie said.
"Ok, Jessue, love, come inside and we can think of what to do." Jessie's mum said.
Jessie sighed but she followed her mum into the house.
They sat down on the sofa and Jessie's mum took out the address book.
"Now, do you live somwhere near here?" Jessie's mum asked.
"Yes... I live here. And you are my mum." Jessie said.
Jessie got up and headed over to the dinning room table. On the table were a pile of books. She looked at them, then picked up one of them. It was her favourite book, but inside was not written her name but another girl's name... Jessie looked closet. The name written in the book was Jane.
Who was Jane and why had she written in her book?
"That book belongs to my oldest daughter, Jane. I don't think you should really touch anything there as none of those things belong to you and I was going to organise them." Jessie's mum said.
Jessie groaned then headed to the kitchen. She was sure her mum was trying to prank her or something and she just wanted to relax before having to go to the party.
Jessie opened the fridge and took out a can of lemonade, and opened it.
"Now, Jessie... you can't just help yourself to things in someone else's kitchen." Jessie's mum said.
"This is my house and my kitchen and you are my mum." Jessie said, pouring the fizzy drink into a cup.
"I think it's time for you to leave." Jessie's mum said.
"Mum, no... this is my house. I have no place to go." Jessie said.
Her mum took no notice and she pushed her out the door and closed it behind her.
Jessie banged on the door shouting, "Let me in... let me in."
Jessie's mum turned pale.
"Oh, I don't know what to do. Should I phone the police?" Jessie's mum said to herself.
The banging stopped and Jessie's mum sighed with relief and she headed back to the kitchen.
"MUM!!!!" a shout came from upstairs.
It was her little boy, Ben.
"I'm comming." Jessie's mum said, hurrying up the stairs.
"What is it?" Jessie's mum asked.
"Who is that girl?" Ben asked, pointing behind his mum.
Jessie's mum turned around and there stood Jessie.
"Oh, I told you to leave. How did you get in? I thought I locked the door." Jessie's mum said.
"You did but i went to the back garden and found the back door key in the old flower pot." Jesssie said, waving the key.
"Give me that key, girl. You have no right taking our things and comming onto our property. Leave at once, or i'll phone the police and give me that key." Jessie's mum said.
Jessie ran down the stairs and out the front door, but she didn't give her mum the key back.
When she was safley away from the house Jessie took out her phone and decided to phone her best friend, who was also going to the party.
"Hi Belle. My mum is acting really strange and she won't let me into my house and I probably won't be able to come tonight." Jessie said, into the phone.
"Who is this and how did you get my number?" Belle asked.
"Belle, it's me Jessie. Don't play this joke... my mum's being doing the same and i've had enough."  Jessie said.
"I don't know anybody called Jessie." Belle said, and then she put the phone down.
Jessie burst into tears.
What was happening?
Suddenly, her head started to spin and she felt sick. She closed her eyes tight.
When she opened her eyes again she was lying on her bed, in her bedroom.
It had all been a dream.
